Eddy Kenzo is Very Mean and Greedy - Os Suuna Reveals
By TNics Ug Ugandan singer Omulangira Suuna (OS) has launched a fierce attack on fellow musician and Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) president Eddy Kenzo, accusing him of being mean, greedy, and selfish. Suuna claims that Kenzo uses his position to block other artists from accessing important opportunities and government connections. Speaking during a recent media interview, Suuna did not hold back as he narrated how Kenzo allegedly frustrated his efforts to meet General Salim Saleh and President Yoweri Museveni. According to him, Kenzo does not want other musicians to rise or enjoy the same privileges that he has. “It’s not all good when you are dealing with Eddy Kenzo,” Suuna said. “He once blocked me from meeting General Salim Saleh and later from meeting President Museveni. He is selfish and doesn’t wish others well.” His comments have since stirred debate in the entertainment industry. Suuna explained that his intention to meet the President and other government officials was purely professional. He said he had composed several campaign songs in support of President Museveni and wanted to present them personally to the NRM Secretariat. However, he claims Kenzo stood in his way and made sure the meetings never happened. According to Suuna, Kenzo has turned connections with powerful figures like General Saleh and President Museveni into his personal playground, deciding who gets access and who doesn’t. “He acts like he owns the Federation and wants to be the only one close to government officials,” Suuna added bitterly. The singer, who is known for his outspoken nature, maintained that his interests are genuine. He said he only wanted to promote unity between artists and the ruling government, and to open doors for more musicians to benefit from national programs. However, he believes Kenzo is standing in the way of that dream. Suuna’s remarks have added fuel to the growing divisions within Uganda’s music industry, especially among artists aligned with different political sides. Many fans and observers say the industry has become more political in recent years, with some artists supporting the government while others side with the opposition. This public fallout between Suuna and Kenzo also highlights the power struggles within the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), an organization created to unite and empower artists. Critics argue that instead of promoting harmony, the Federation has become a source of competition and jealousy among musicians. While Kenzo has not yet responded directly to Suuna’s accusations, his supporters insist that the UNMF president has worked hard to raise the profile of Ugandan artists both locally and internationally. They believe Suuna’s comments are driven by personal frustration rather than fact. Despite the controversy, Suuna insists that he is only speaking the truth. He says he still respects Kenzo as a successful artist but feels disappointed by his alleged actions. “I’m not fighting him,” Suuna said, “I just want fairness. We should all have a chance to grow and access opportunities without being blocked by anyone.”
