Makerere University Students Gear Up For Final Exams Starting November 17th
News by: AUDIO VOICE UG As the academic year draws to a close, excitement and determination fill the air at Makerere University, Uganda’s oldest and most prestigious higher institution of learning. Students across different colleges are warming up for their final examinations, which are set to begin on November 17 this year. At the College of Education and External Studies, students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts with Education are already in serious revision mode. Many have been spotted in group discussions under the famous Makerere tree shades, going over teaching methods, educational psychology, and literature analysis. Their lecturers have been instrumental in guiding them through revision sessions, offering final consultative lectures, and ensuring all coursework is well-covered before exams begin. Interestingly, freshers (first-year students) are also excited to experience their first university examinations. Many of them have expressed gratitude for the support they are receiving from continuing students, especially KYOMUHENDO JOAN, a second-year student and aspiring CEES Electoral Chairperson (EC). Joan has been actively helping new students by sharing past papers, explaining campus systems, and giving useful study tips. Her mentorship spirit has earned her admiration among the freshers, who describe her as a “true big sister” in academics. Across other faculties, similar energy can be felt. Bachelor of Commerce students from the College of Business and Management Sciences (COBAMS) are polishing up on accounting principles, taxation, and business statistics. Their lecturers have organized mock tests to help learners familiarize themselves with exam formats and sharpen their analytical skills. Meanwhile, Engineering students under the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT) are completing final projects and technical reports. Many are confident that their practical sessions, combined with solid theoretical grounding, have prepared them well for the tough engineering papers ahead. In the College of Health Sciences, Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery students are spending long hours in the library and at Mulago teaching hospital, revising anatomy, pharmacology, and clinical procedures. Their professors commend them for their commitment and expect excellent results this semester. The Bachelor of Laws (LLB) students at the School of Law are equally engaged, with continuous revision sessions focusing on constitutional law, jurisprudence, and international human rights. Moot court practices have also been intensified to strengthen their argumentation skills before the exams. Not to be left behind, Bachelor of Journalism and Communication students are busy reviewing media ethics, feature writing, and communication research. Many are already confident that the guidance from their lecturers has equipped them with the skills and knowledge to excel. Overall, Makerere University’s academic atmosphere is charged with discipline, readiness, and optimism. Lecturers have played a key role in ensuring students are well-prepared, offering consultations and sharing online materials to support revision. As the countdown continues to November 17, the campus buzzes with hope and hard work—every student aiming to end the semester on a high note. “We are ready, and we must pass,” said a final-year Education student with a smile — a statement that sums up the spirit at Makerere this exam season.
